The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has announced that it will not admit students into its Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The development affects candidates who selected FUTA as their institution of choice for Medicine and Surgery in the ongoing registration for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
According to the notice, such candidates have been advised to immediately seek alternative institutions offering the MBBS programme for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The university did not provide specific reasons for the suspension of admission into the programme but urged affected applicants to take timely steps to avoid complications in their admission process.
The MBBS programme is one of the most competitive courses in Nigerian universities, and the announcement is expected to prompt affected candidates to make changes during the UTME registration and admission process.
Candidates are therefore advised to monitor official updates from JAMB and relevant institutions to ensure compliance with admission guidelines for the 2026/2027 academic session.
