The Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, at the Fund’s headquarters in Abuja.
Ahmed was received by the NELFUND boss alongside heads of departments in a meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between tertiary institutions and the Fund to improve access to education financing.
Discussions centred on enhancing institutional partnerships, particularly in student loan research and data management, to ensure efficient and timely disbursement of loans to eligible students.
Both parties highlighted the importance of accurate student data, proper verification processes, and sustained engagement between universities and NELFUND for seamless loan administration.
The meeting also explored strategies to boost awareness of the student loan scheme within the university community, with a focus on increasing participation among ABU students.
Sawyerr reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to working closely with institutions nationwide to remove financial barriers to higher education.
Ahmed, in his remarks, commended NELFUND’s efforts and pledged the university’s continued support to ensure the success of the initiative.
