Call for Participants: Capacity Building Training on Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation in Kano
The Disability Projects Initiative, with the generous support of the Disability Rights Fund, is proud to announce an exclusive call for participants for its upcoming “Capacity Building Training on Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation.” This landmark program is specifically designed for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) residing within Kano State, Nigeria.
As the global climate crisis accelerates, its impacts—ranging from extreme heatwaves to unpredictable weather patterns and flooding—are increasingly felt across Northern Nigeria. Historically, Persons with Disabilities have been among the most vulnerable to these environmental shifts, often facing systemic barriers to accessing critical information and resources. This initiative, Training on Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation in Kano, seeks to change that narrative by placing PWDs at the forefront of the environmental conversation.
Objectives of the Training
This program is more than just an educational seminar; it is a dedicated empowerment platform. The curriculum is meticulously designed to provide participants with:
• Fundamental Knowledge: A deep understanding of the science behind climate change and its local implications.
• Practical Adaptation Strategies: Real-world techniques to reduce the negative impacts of climate change on daily life and livelihoods.
• Mitigation Skills: Practical steps to reduce carbon footprints and promote environmental sustainability.
• Advocacy Tools: Empowering PWDs to actively participate in community-led climate action and policy dialogue.
Eligibility and Participation
We are seeking motivated individuals who are eager to become climate champions. This training is specifically tailored for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) who are current residents of Kano State. We encourage applications from across diverse disability groups to ensure a rich, inclusive, and representative learning environment.
By joining this initiative, you are not just attending a workshop; you are joining a movement to ensure that “no one is left behind” in the fight for a resilient and sustainable future.
Apply now and lead the change!
