Parents and relatives of prospective corps members have raised concerns over the alleged kidnapping of two commercial buses conveying 2026 Batch ‘C’ Stream I prospective corps members from Ibadan, Oyo State, to NYSC orientation camps in the Southeast.
The prospective corps members reportedly boarded the buses at Samonda, Ibadan, on Thursday, with some travelling to orientation camps in Abia, Imo and Enugu states.
Concerns escalated after relatives reportedly lost contact with some of the prospective corps members, leading to allegations that the buses had been attacked and the passengers kidnapped.
A woman, in a video circulating online, called on parents whose children travelled to the affected states to urgently seek information about their whereabouts.
According to her, the incident reportedly occurred after the buses left Ibadan, while a driver was said to have confirmed that the passengers had been kidnapped.
She also claimed that the police, military and other security authorities were already making efforts to trace the alleged kidnappers and locate the affected prospective corps members.
“If you know you have children that went to NYSC camp, Abia State, Imo State, Enugu State, better start coming now,” she said.
She added that the authorities had been alerted and were working to establish the whereabouts of the passengers.
However, the exact location of the alleged incident, the number of prospective corps members involved and their current whereabouts remain unclear.
As of the time of filing this report, the alleged kidnapping had not been independently verified, while the NYSC and relevant security agencies had yet to issue an official statement confirming the incident.
Investigations into the reported incident are ongoing.
