We are looking for a HSE & Quality Officer to implement and monitor both safety protocols and quality control measures on all our construction sites.
*Job Responsibilities*
• Develop and enforce Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) plans for each project site, in compliance with Nigerian safety regulations and company policies. This includes risk assessments, emergency response plans, and daily/weekly safety checklists.
• Conduct regular site inspections to identify and correct potential safety hazards or non-compliance (unsafe scaffolding, lack of PPE, etc.). Provide immediate feedback and work with the site supervisor to improve conditions.
• Lead safety training and inductions for all new site workers and toolbox talks for ongoing awareness. Foster a safety-first culture where workers feel responsible for their own and others’ safety.
• Ensure all workers and subcontractors comply with HSE standards: wearing protective gear, using equipment properly, and following safe work methods. Stop work if there is an imminent danger and take corrective action.
• Inspect ongoing construction work (steel reinforcement before casting, blockwork, finishing works, MEP installations, etc.) to verify it meets the project specifications and quality standards. Flag any substandard workmanship and ensure it is rectified.
• Work closely with the Project Manager and engineers to implement quality assurance checkpoints at critical stages of construction.
• Develop quality checklists and sign-off procedures for completed work segments.
*Requirements:*
✨ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Environmental Science OR relevant diploma combined with strong experience
✨ 3+ years experience as a safety or quality assurance role on construction projects.
✨ HSE certification such as NEBOSH IGC, IOSH, or local Nigerian safety certifications is highly preferred
✨ In-depth knowledge of construction site safety standards and Nigerian HSE regulations. Familiarity with international safety standards (OSHA, etc.) is a plus.
✨ Training or certification in Quality Management or Construction QA/QC is an advantage (e.g., ISO 9001 QMS knowledge).
✨ Ability to produce clear reports and maintain organized documentation. Basic computer skills for report writing and possibly HSE software tools.
