* Legal Officer (Real Estate & Contracts)* for a Real Estate Development Company

📍Location: Lagos, Nigeria (with projects across the region)

We are seeking a diligent and experienced Legal Officer to support our operations across property development and management.
*Job Responsibilities*
• Conduct due diligence on property titles, verify ownership and encumbrances, and oversee title registrations, including obtaining Governor’s Consent for land acquisitions.
• Prepare and review purchase agreements and related documentation to ensure smooth and lawful property transfers.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers.
• Ensure all agreements clearly outline deliverables, timelines, and remedies for non-performance, protecting the company’s legal and commercial interests.
• Advise management on compliance with key Nigerian laws, including the Land Use Act, building and environmental regulations, tenancy laws, and corporate governance requirements.
• Monitor permits, licenses, and approvals needed for project execution.
• Prepare and standardize lease agreements for both residential and commercial properties, covering rent terms, maintenance obligations, service charges, and default provisions.
• Ensure all tenancy contracts are legally sound and enforceable.
• Represent the company in legal proceedings or manage relationships with external counsel for disputes, land issues, or enforcement actions. Ensure
*Requirements:*
✨ LL.B and B.L from a recognized Nigerian institution, duly called to the Nigerian Bar.
✨ 3/6 years post-call experience in real estate, construction, or corporate law—experience as in-house counsel is an advantage.
✨ Strong understanding of Nigerian property laws, title registration processes, landlord-tenant laws, and real estate transaction frameworks.
✨ Familiarity with property financing, joint ventures, or investment structures will be an added advantage
