Job Description
Job Title: Underwriter
Department: Operations / Medical
Location: Abuja (Avilia Hmo)
Reports To: Head of Underwriting / Operations Manager
Role Summary:
The Underwriter assesses health risks for individuals and corporate clients, recommends approval or decline of applications, and determines the correct premiums to ensure accurate risk management for the HMO.
Key Responsibilities
Review enrolment forms and medical information.
Assess risk and determine suitable plan categories.
Approve, modify, or decline applications based on guidelines.
Work with Sales and Claims to ensure accurate pricing.
Support renewals by reviewing utilization and recommending adjustments.
Requirements
Degree in a relevant field.
Experience in HMO or insurance underwriting (added advantage).
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Good understanding of HMO plans and medical terms.
