Description:

The Accountant will support the Financial Controller while handling the programme’s day-to-day accounting functions, including reconciliations, financial documentation, withdrawal applications and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Financial Controller in day-to-day accounting operations.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and project financial reports.
• Prepare and maintain financial documentation.
• Conduct bank and other relevant reconciliations.
• Support preparation of withdrawal applications.
• Assist with financial reporting and analysis.
• Monitor and document project transactions.
• Support budget monitoring and expenditure tracking.
• Ensure financial records are properly maintained and available for audit.
• Provide financial information and supporting documentation when required.
• Maintain strong working relationships with finance and non-finance colleagues, cooperating institutions and implementing partners.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Master’s degree or higher in Statistics, Demography, Public Policy, International Development, Economics or a related field.
• Advanced certification in M&E, Statistics or Economics is preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience, including at least 7 years in a similar M&E role.
• Experience implementing M&E systems for internationally funded agricultural development projects.
• Experience with beneficiary monitoring, databases and project-level MIS.
• Knowledge of qualitative, quantitative, mixed-method and impact evaluation approaches.
• Strong analytical, communication, project management and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent computer literacy.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of local Northern Nigerian languages is required/advantageous according to the source.
