Nigeria, fintech giant OPay has unveiled a N1.2 billion scholarship scheme over the next 10 years for students of the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna, Niger State.
The initiative is designed to ease the financial burden on bright but underprivileged students, enabling them to concentrate fully on their academic goals without the stress of tuition fees and related costs.
Speaking at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) held in Minna, a student beneficiary expressed deep gratitude:
> “I’m thankful to OPay for this scholarship. After gaining admission, I had to drop out initially due to lack of funds. This support has given me a second chance to pursue my dreams.”
The scholarship is part of OPay’s larger commitment to investing in education and empowering Nigerian youth. Managing Director of OPay, Dauda Gotring, reaffirmed the company’s dedication to national development through education.
> “We understand that education plays a vital role in nation-building,” he said. “This initiative reflects our belief in supporting young Nigerians to reach their full potential. It is a privilege for OPay to contribute to their academic journey.”
This partnership with FUT Minna is the latest in OPay’s nationwide education support program, which has also extended similar scholarships to institutions like the Kwara State Polytechnic.
Through this long-term initiative, OPay not only reinforces its position as a leading financial service provider but also as a strong partner in shaping a more inclusive and promising future for Nigeria.
