The University of Ibadan (UI) has appointed Prof. Augustine Falaye, a member of the Governing Council of Chrisland University, Abeokuta, as an Emeritus Professor.
Chrisland University described the honour as a recognition of Falaye’s decades-long contributions to teaching, research and higher education administration.
According to the university, the award is particularly significant because Falaye continues to serve on its Governing Council, where he contributes to the institution’s governance and strategic development.
A Professor of Aquaculture and Fisheries Management, Falaye joined the University of Ibadan as an Assistant Lecturer in 1983 and rose through the academic ranks before becoming a Professor in 1997.
His areas of expertise include aquaculture, fisheries management, fish nutrition and sustainable aquatic environmental development.
Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor of Chrisland University, Prof. Oyedunni Arulogun, described the conferment as a well-deserved honour.
“Prof. Falaye’s elevation to the status of Emeritus Professor is not only a personal achievement but also a source of pride to Chrisland University and the wider academic community,” she said.
Arulogun added that Falaye’s experience and leadership continue to benefit the university.
“Prof. Falaye’s vast experience and wealth of knowledge continue to add immense value to the University’s governance and strategic direction, and we are highly proud of his accomplishments and contributions to excellence in academics and national development,” she stated.
Chrisland University also expressed appreciation to Falaye for his continued service to the institution and wished him many more years of scholarship, mentorship and service.
