The fifth edition of the Ekiti Secondary Schools STEM Quiz Competition has officially commenced, with qualifying examinations beginning today across Ekiti State.
Organised by CIMET Initiatives, the annual competition is designed to strengthen the knowledge, confidence, and problem-solving abilities of secondary school students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
The competition is open to secondary schools across the state, with the top 10 performing schools in the qualifying stage earning places in the grand finale scheduled for Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the Federal University of Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE).
Organisers said the names of the 10 finalist schools will be announced on major social media platforms and selected radio stations ahead of the final contest.
Speaking on the initiative, the organiser, Muyiwa Aladeyelu, an educator and STEM advocate in Ekiti State, said the competition is aimed at inspiring academic excellence, promoting innovation, and encouraging more young people to pursue careers in science and technology.
Now in its fifth edition, the STEM Quiz Competition has continued to serve as a platform for identifying and nurturing talented students while fostering healthy academic competition among secondary schools in Ekiti State.
