The Federal University of Technology Ilaro (FUTI) has joined family members, friends, Nollywood colleagues, traditional rulers, Muslim clerics and other sympathisers to bid farewell to veteran actor and cultural icon, Alhaji Hassan Babatunde Taiwo, popularly known as Ogogo.
The burial ceremony was held at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground, Ilaro, with the university represented by its principal officers.
Ogogo, a prominent son of Ilaro and Yewaland, was remembered for his contributions to the arts, culture and development of the community.
His relationship with FUTI was also highlighted at the ceremony, as the late actor had recently participated in the university’s last convocation ceremony as part of the team of orators.
His distinctive presence and performance contributed to the cultural richness of the historic university event.
By joining other members of the community to honour Ogogo, FUTI acknowledged the late actor’s connection with the institution and his wider contributions to the cultural heritage of Ilaro and Yewaland.
His death marks a loss to Nollywood, the cultural community and the people of Ilaro, as the veteran actor is remembered for a life dedicated to entertainment and cultural promotion.
