The Federal Ministry of Education has announced the full automation of academic certificate evaluation and authentication, allowing applicants to complete the process online without visiting the Ministry physically.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, said the initiative is part of the Federal Government’s digital transformation agenda and aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to the Minister, the new system enables applicants to carry out the entire credential evaluation and authentication process through the Ministry’s dedicated online platform.
He explained that the reform is aimed at reducing bureaucratic delays, speeding up processing, improving transparency and providing more convenient services for Nigerians and other applicants both within and outside the country.
Alausa noted that the initiative would strengthen the integrity and credibility of Nigeria’s academic certification system while creating a more reliable framework for institutions, employers and other stakeholders to verify academic qualifications.
He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to leveraging technology to modernise education administration, improve institutional efficiency and deliver citizen-centred services.
The Ministry advised applicants seeking certificate evaluation and authentication services to use the official online platform at essverify.education.gov.ng and direct enquiries to ess1@education.gov.ng.
The development marks another step in the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to digitise key education services and improve access to government services through technology.
