The Federal Government has proposed a harmonised timetable for Nigeria’s 2027 national examinations, with the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) scheduled for March 15 to 25.
The proposed schedule is expected to help examination bodies coordinate their activities, reduce timetable clashes and ensure the timely release of results. The government aims to enable eligible candidates to begin tertiary admission processes by September 2027.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announced the proposed timetable on its social media platforms on Thursday.
According to the schedule, the National Examinations Council (NECO) Senior School Certificate Examination will run from April 1 to May 14, while the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) is scheduled for May 11 to June 18.
The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) examination is proposed for June 1 to July 5, while the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) examination will hold from June 10 to July 9.
Results from NECO, WAEC, NABTEB and NBAIS are expected to be released by August 2027 under the proposed plan.
JAMB said the Federal Government was working with the examination bodies to align their schedules and ensure results were processed and released in time for tertiary admissions.
The initiative is also intended to improve coordination among examination bodies and minimise scheduling conflicts for candidates taking multiple examinations.
However, JAMB clarified that the dates remain proposed timelines and are not yet final. It urged candidates, parents and schools to follow official announcements from the respective examination bodies for confirmation of the examination schedules.
