Pupils preparing for admission into Lagos State public junior secondary schools will have a few extra days before sitting for their placement test.
The Lagos State Government has rescheduled the 2026 Placement Test from Saturday, July 25, to Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
The Placement Test is the annual entrance examination organised by the Lagos State Examinations Board (LSEB) for final-year primary school pupils seeking admission into public junior secondary schools across the state.
The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, through the LSEB, announced the change in a statement shared on the Lagos State Government’s official X account on Tuesday.
According to the Registrar of the Board, Mr Adebayo Orunsolu, the examination was moved because the earlier date coincided with the state’s monthly environmental sanitation exercise.
“The adjustment became necessary following the realisation that the earlier scheduled date coincides with the Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise, which is observed on the last Saturday of every month across Lagos State,” Orunsolu said.
He explained that the restriction of movement during the sanitation exercise would make it difficult for candidates, parents, guardians and examination officials to travel to examination centres.
«”The restriction of movement during the sanitation exercise would significantly affect the smooth movement of candidates, parents, guardians, and examination personnel to designated examination centres across the State,” he added.»
Orunsolu said Tuesday, July 28 was approved as the new examination date to ensure the test is conducted without unnecessary disruptions.
He advised parents, guardians, school administrators and candidates to take note of the new date and make the necessary adjustments.
The registrar also assured stakeholders that the board has made adequate preparations to ensure the examination is conducted smoothly, fairly and transparently.
While apologising for any inconvenience caused by the change, he thanked parents and schools for their understanding and cooperation.
