The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has submitted all documents requested by the House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education and Examination Bodies as part of an ongoing investigation into issues surrounding the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The probe originated from a House resolution passed on 15 May 2025, following widespread challenges during the exam.
Key Points:
The committee is examining:
JAMB’s budget implementation and Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) from 2023 to date.
Evidence of remittances to the Consolidated Revenue Fund (CRF).
JAMB’s bank statements for the same period.
The feasibility of establishing one Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre in each of Nigeria’s 774 LGAs to prevent future disruptions.
Committee Chairman Hon. Oboku Oforji emphasized that the investigation is not a witch-hunt, but a constitutional duty.
Oforji criticized the conduct of certain JAMB officials who walked out of an earlier session, describing it as disrespect to the Parliament.
JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede apologized for the incident, distancing himself from the officials’ behavior and affirming respect for the Parliament.
Oloyede confirmed that all requested documents have now been submitted.
The committee will reconvene after reviewing the documents.
