School Awareness
could mean different things to different classes of people. For some it means clarity, for others it could be introduction, enlightenment and consciousness of the happenings around them or on a particular topic. There are different ways school awareness can be organized in the form of programs, initiatives, seminars, workshops and even in digital form.
It all depend on the following questions;
What does the school want to achieve?
What does the school want to expose them to?
Why do you want such awareness?
Who is the awareness meant for?
Is it for the students, educators & parents or just one of the groups?
A new term is here, each term should focus on school awareness, personal growth both students and educators.
Do you intend the students to have awareness in the following areas such as about personal growth, anti- bullying, body parts, etiquette, mental health, First aids/ CPR, healthy precautions, digitalization/ internet safety and environmental issues. When the school authority makes emphasis on the school awareness this will enlighten the student and educator, learn and grow.
Creating awareness aims to inform, engage, and empower students and educators to take positive action and create positive change. Positive actions which bring about positive change doesn’t just happen by chance, it should be incorporated through school awareness. People need to picture the change so they can embrace it, else it will be neglected.
The school should equip students with all the necessary awareness that will be useful to them both now and in the future.
By experience, some parents appreciate and communicate how some of the organized school initiatives gave their child the cutting edge even after relocation. I also noticed the tremendous changes and improvement in each term when the school awareness is clearly planned.
This exposes the students and educators to the knowledge they need to know and develop them in a balanced manner, that is fit for them to also take initiatives which in turn make them useful to themselves and the society at large. Some children need to be fully aware of their bodies and it’s functions, so no one will be able to take advantage of them as it also can reduce child sexual abuse.
The school leadership should be open to bring about this awareness and development. Some leaders are rigid as a result of this cannot embrace the opportunity that comes in the form of letters to their doorstep. Harness the opportunity that avail itself, set up a committee to look into such matters.
Creating awareness is one of the core essence of a functional school. Do you know the authority embedded in schools to create that first impression and knowledge in a child? Develop your school community to become informed and responsible citizens by creating awareness.
