Education advocacy organisation Let There Be Teachers, in partnership with Dream World Foundation, has announced plans to hold a nationwide candlelight memorial in honour of two late educators, Mr. Michael Oyedokun and Mr. Joel Adesiyan.
The memorial, organised on behalf of the families of the deceased, is expected to bring together teachers, colleagues, friends, loved ones and members of the public to celebrate the lives, service and enduring impact of the two educators.
According to the organisers, the event is designed as a night of remembrance, honour and solidarity, recognising the contributions of the late Mr. Oyedokun and Mr. Adesiyan to the teaching profession and the communities they served.
The candlelight memorial is scheduled to take place on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to join physically in Ibadan or virtually through the Let There Be Teachers online platforms.
The organisers noted that the gathering will provide an avenue for educators and well-wishers across Nigeria to pay their respects and reflect on the sacrifices and commitment of teachers who dedicate their lives to shaping future generations.
They urged interested participants to register ahead of the event, stressing that honouring departed educators is a way of celebrating and preserving the dignity of the teaching profession.
“Because when we honour our own, we honour the teaching profession itself,” the organisers stated.
The memorial is expected to attract educators and stakeholders from across the country who share a commitment to recognising the invaluable contributions of teachers to society.
