The National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) is available not only to university students, but also to eligible students in polytechnics, colleges of education, and technical and vocational institutions, ensuring that every Nigerian youth has the opportunity to pursue higher education or acquire income generating skills.
NELFUND was established under the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, to help reduce the financial burden on students/parents and expand access to higher education in Nigeria.
Today, NELFUND has received over 1.8 million student loan applications, while nearly 1.6 million students have benefited from the scheme, helping them to overcome the financial challenges of tertiary education while restoring hope for a brighter future.
