Players of the Nigeria women’s national football team, popularly known as the Super Falcons, are expected to begin arriving in camp in Ikenne, Ogun State, as preparations intensify for their pre-WAFCON double-header friendlies against Senegal.
Head coach Justine Madugu has named a 23-player squad for the fixtures, following the Nigeria Football Federation’s announcement on Sunday. The matches come as part of the team’s build-up to the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The squad features key names including captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, and veteran forward Asisat Oshoala, alongside several returnees and foreign-based players.
Midfielder Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene earns a recall after returning from a three-year absence during recent friendlies against Cameroon, while forwards Francisca Ordega and Gift Monday also make the list.
Belarus-based Blessing Nkor returns after her last appearance in a 2024 friendly against France, while Turkey-based midfielder Kafayat Shittu earns another call-up following strong club performances. London City Lionesses defender Rofiat Imuran also returns to the squad after missing recent assignments.
The list further includes home-based and overseas players such as Anderline Mgbechi, Sikiratu Isah, Tosin Demehin, Halimatu Ayinde, Toni Payne, Folashade Ijamilusi, and Joy Omewa. Christy Ucheibe, Shukurat Oladipo, and Rinsola Babajide are also included after successful club campaigns.
The Super Falcons will face Senegal on June 5 and June 8 at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne-Remo. The friendlies are expected to help the team fine-tune preparations ahead of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco from July 25 to August 16.
Nigeria has been drawn in Group C alongside Egypt, Zambia, and debutants Malawi as they chase an 11th continental title.
