The 2005 alumni set of State Senior High School, Alimosho, Lagos, has donated new furniture and educational materials to current students as part of activities marking its 20th anniversary reunion.
The two-day event, themed “Honouring Our Roots, Celebrating Our Journey,” was held on Friday and Saturday and brought former classmates back to the school where their journey began.
On Friday, the alumni, led by chairperson Bolanle Ladipo and vice chairperson Taofiq Jinadu, presented 13 units of furniture to support students’ learning. Members Grace Ebegbulem and Fatima Oyero also sensitised the students to morals, social etiquette, and personal safety.
Ladipo said the gesture was driven by gratitude.
“As we mark our 20th anniversary, we felt it was important to appreciate the institution that shaped us. This is our way of giving back and making a positive impact,” she said.
She added that the group had earlier donated two laptops and would provide additional books on Monday.
The school principal, Felix Kujore, praised the initiative, noting that it would help address urgent student needs.
“We have written to the government for furniture, and we know it will come,” he said. “But this donation fills an immediate gap. These are quality items that will outlive many sets of students. When people give from the little they have, it leaves a lasting lesson the students will emulate.”
The reunion ended on Saturday, with old classmates reconnecting and presenting gifts to both current and retired teachers
