While retention debates focus on policies and infrastructure, the reality is that schools lose students not just to systemic issues, but often to the absence of great teachers whose qualities go unnoticed until they’re missing, the patience, empathy, and inspiration that quietly keep learners engaged and thriving.
Teachers are the backbone of education, shaping the minds, values, and aspirations of generations. While students, parents, and administrators often celebrate visible achievements like high test scores or winning competitions, many of the qualities that make a teacher truly exceptional often go unnoticed until they are absent. Here, we explore few qualities of a great teacher that quietly transform classrooms and leave lasting impressions.
