A 300 level student ,Johnson Akindutire has emerged the winner of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) FUTARIAN entrepreneur of the Year competition. He was declared winner during an event tagged “The certification before satisfaction” , organized by one of the Alumnus of FUTA, Pastor Titilayo Femi -Kings on August 22,2025. Akindutire got the title of Entrepreneurial King and a cash prize of N1 Million while N500,000 went to the first runner up and N400,000 for the second runner up . Other participants got consolation cash awards.
The program was designed to encourage undergraduates trying to start a business or become an entrepreneur even while still studying attracted a number of them who pitched with their businesses.
The winner,Hollux Creation hinted that he intends to purchase an industrial tapping machine and use the remaining money fpr the production of Hollux Premium T-shirts which will be launched next year.
He was indeed grateful to the organisers of the event and management for giving him the chance to compete and soar higher in his business with the cash prize .
The convener of the event Pastor King of Christ Apostolic church Kingstream told participants who filled the 2500 capacity auditorium that he had the plan to empower an entrepreneur among the students to become a millionaire just like he had managed his studies during his university years with his dreams of motivating others and eventually succeeded in achieving both without one hindering the other .
He also narrated his own personal experience as an undergraduate who though, found himself studying physics electronics in the university was engrossed in public speaking, giving motivational talks but struggled to graduate as a student. He said he eventually struck a balance and graduated while also keeping his entrepreneurial passion.
He said he’s now thriving in the world with what he enjoyed doing and has been passionate about.
He said the initiative was to encourage students who find themselves in the same situation to continue with their studies while also toeing the line of their passion especially in the area of entrepreneurship.
Other alumni of the institution including the president FUTA Alumni Worldwide Engr Adeyemi Bello,CEO Chikini Monie and Abula Backyard ,Olaitan Adesomoju MD Oray Continental Bussiness and Oil Gas Nig Ltd , and an alumnus of the university of lagos CEO shoespeed, among others charged the students entrepreneur at the event to prepare for their life and future early without wasting their time hanging up with those who cannot impact their lives positively or by indulging in frivolities .
The invited speakers who were mostly alumni of FUTA and entrepreneurs encouraged the students to maximize every opportunity they have emphasizing that there is no satisfaction without certification and so they must ensure that they act responsibly and take advantage of every business opportunity around them even while pursuing their studies .
At the event ,the Vice Chancellor of the institution Professor AdenIke Oladiji appreciated the convener for looking back and remembering to give back to his alma mater
Oladiji who was represented by the President resident FUTA Alumni Association worldwide Engr. Adeyemi Bello commended the initiative and was grateful to other alumni that made the event a success and have continued to in one way or the other contribute to the success of the institution which made them , thereby making it a better place for those coming behind them and the next generation.
The vice chancellor encouraged others to key into such a noble initiative of giving back to the society as she congratulated the winners to make the best use of the fund.
She equally charged them to take advantage of courses which avails them the opportunity to be entrepreneurs and employers of labour rather than seeking for white collar jobs endlessly .
