The Federal Ministry of Education has commenced the first round of direct payments to trainees and training centres under the national Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Initiative, marking another major milestone for the programme.
According to the Ministry, over 42,000 fully registered trainees across the country have now received their ₦22,500 monthly stipend, designed to support their transportation and daily upkeep during their training.
In addition, more than 600 independent training centres have been paid for the skills development services they provide, ensuring the continuity and quality of practical training nationwide.
Officials described this as the first tranche of disbursements, with more expected in the coming weeks. The rollout, they said, reflects President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s (GCFR) commitment to expanding access to practical, job-creating skills for young Nigerians.
The Ministry noted that the programme has progressed rapidly since May—moving from registration to hands-on training—adding that the prompt release of stipends and training-centre payments will help sustain momentum.
“TVET is Renewed Hope in action — empowering our youth to build their future,” the Ministry stated, emphasizing that this phase is only the beginning of the broader national skills development drive.
