The Federal Government has intensified coordinated interventions to ensure safe schooling and uninterrupted learning across Nigeria, particularly in states affected by security-related school disruptions.
This was disclosed by the Federal Ministry of Education in a press release dated December 25, 2025, reaffirming government’s commitment to protecting schools as safe spaces for learning and national development.
According to the Ministry, the renewed efforts are targeted at states where schools have recently reopened after temporary closures caused by security challenges.
The interventions are aimed at stabilising learning environments, restoring public confidence in the education system, and ensuring that no learner is left behind despite prevailing security concerns.
As part of the strategy, the Ministry is supporting state governments and affected communities through a comprehensive action plan. Key components include the development of updated learner-support flyers with step-by-step guidance, QR code links, and expanded access to digital learning platforms such as Learning Passport, FME Empire and Ignite portals, all aligned with the NERDC curriculum.
The Federal Government also disclosed that a digital learner guidance pamphlet has been produced to assist learners and teachers in accessing and navigating approved learning platforms. These initiatives are being implemented with support from development partners including UNICEF, UNESCO and UNDP.
To further strengthen learning continuity, the Ministry noted that upcoming activities will focus on enhanced coordination with subnational governments. This includes strategic engagements with State Commissioners of Education, SUBEB chairmen and principals of Unity Colleges to ensure effective implementation at all levels.
In addition, medical, mental health and psychosocial support services, including counselling, are being provided to learners and teachers in affected schools to aid their smooth transition to stable learning environments.
The Federal Government added that early-warning frameworks have also been strengthened nationwide to safeguard learners and educators and reinforce overall school safety.
