If you’re entering university, a transparent admission process may seem normal — but it’s still rare enough to be celebrated.
At the 9th Matriculation Ceremony of Dominican University, Ibadan, the institution praised JAMB for creating an environment of excellence, transparency and equity for both candidates and schools.
The commendation came from the Registrar of Dominican University, Rev. Fr Samuel Onyiba OP, during the ceremony held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
Rev. Onyiba said the matriculation event would have been impossible without JAMB’s support and cooperation,
especially its insistence on an ethical, fair and transparent admission exercise.
He added that the board’s role helped create the conditions for a smooth and credible admission process.
This point was echoed earlier by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jacintha Opara, who said the excellence envisioned for the matriculating students can only be achieved through a foundation of competence, trust, and equity built by the institution and its partners.
She urged the new students to build on that foundation, learning and growing into young men and women who embody academic excellence and strong character.
Prof. Opara also encouraged the matriculants to embrace the university’s values, which aim to produce graduates who are morally sound, socially recognized, and globally competitive.
In a goodwill message, the Zonal Director of JAMB’s Ibadan office, Mrs. Temitope Akintola, expressed confidence in Dominican University’s ability to equip students with knowledge to solve local and global problems.
While congratulating the institution, she stressed the need to stay on the right path to strengthen the university’s partnership with JAMB.
She also highlighted the importance of vision-driven leadership, describing it as one of the secrets to JAMB’s success.
For students starting their university journey, the message is clear: a fair admission process is a strong foundation — but the real work begins now, in the classroom and beyond..
