No fewer than eight public and private secondary schools in Aba are set to participate in the maiden edition of Aba Literary Week 1.0, an educational initiative aimed at promoting reading culture and healthy academic competition among students.
The three-day event, scheduled for February 24, 25 and 27, 2026, will hold at Priqueen International School and will feature quiz competitions, literary reviews and presentations centred on the novel Beaten, written by Obinna Olewe, a member of the alumni association.
The programme is organised by the All Saints Secondary School, Ehere ’92 Set as part of its community impact initiative to strengthen academic excellence among secondary school learners.
Organisers said the initiative aligns with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4, which promotes quality education, and has received endorsements from key stakeholders in Abia State, including education authorities and local government officials.
Speaking on the project, President of the All Saints ’92 Set, Chief Engr. Martin Ikechukwu Uzoegwu, described the literary week as a strategic investment in young minds and a platform to encourage lifelong learning within the Aba community.
Chairman of the Organising Committee, Engr. Samuel Ogbuagu, added that the initiative is designed to foster collaboration among alumni, schools, government institutions and the private sector, with plans to establish it as an annual educational empowerment programme.
Participating schools and students are expected to benefit from cash prizes, free copies of the featured novel and wider exposure to literary engagement, as the organisers seek to deepen reading habits and creativity among students in Aba.
