Emeritus Professor Peter Adeniyi has given back to his roots by upgrading and handing over the library of Egbeoba High School, Ikole-Ekiti, through his foundation.
The upgraded facility, renovated and equipped with modern ICT tools, is aimed at improving learning and exposing students to a better study environment.
Speaking at the handover, Adeniyi, who chairs the Prof. Peter Adeniyi Foundation, described the library as more than a building, calling it a centre for knowledge, imagination and opportunity.
“This library symbolises gratitude, hope and lifelong learning. I hope it inspires students to dream higher, reach further and become better,” he said.
Reflecting on his days as a student of the school, the don urged old students to remain committed to the development of education and the rebuilding of school infrastructure. He also appealed to the Ekiti State Government to assist the school with dormitories, science laboratories, a health bay and proper fencing, while calling on the state to relay the appeal to the Federal Government.
Adeniyi further urged Egbeoba alumni to set aside differences and work together to rebuild the school in its current location for the benefit of future generations.
The school principal, Mr Joseph Ojo, described the upgraded library as a major boost to learning, urging students to make good use of the facility and maintain good conduct.
Also speaking, the President of the school’s alumni association, Prof. Femi Omotoso, praised Adeniyi’s contribution to intellectual development and encouraged other old students to support the growth of their alma mater.
