Judie Henderson, a Truman Scholar and Founder of Next Step Rwanda, is a unique blend of nomad and advocate, thanks to a childhood of domestic violence and undiagnosed learning disabilities. She has become a compassionate educator in the US and Rwanda with experience teaching college students who want to work on ambulances and independent living skills to adults with intellectual disabilities. Using her experiences with negative role models and mentors, Judie designed Next Step Rwanda to offer affordable professional development opportunities to Rwandans who want to improve themselves for the workforce. Judie uses project-based learning to teach on-the-job skills to employees and clients, as well as the basis for writing strong employment policies that encourage active learning while working.
