In a strong message to the 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream II Corps Members, the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has urged them to accept their postings in good faith and commit to national service with dedication and patriotism.
Addressing Corps Members at the NYSC Lagos State Orientation Camp in Iyana-Ipaja, the DG emphasized that every Corps Member must respect the culture and values of their host communities and shun all forms of misconduct.
“Wherever you are posted, be diligent and responsible. Nigeria belongs to us all. Don’t travel at night, and don’t embark on any journey without authorisation,” General Nafiu warned.
He stressed that any Corps Member found violating NYSC bylaws or the Nigerian constitution would face strict consequences, adding, “We will not spare offenders. Accept your postings in good faith and lift this nation high.”
The NYSC boss also encouraged the youths to believe in the Nigerian project, saying their contributions are vital to nation-building.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Coordinator, Mrs. Christianah Salmwang, reported that 3,212 Corps Members—1,250 males and 1,960 females—had been registered in Lagos. She noted that due to capacity constraints, over 4,600 Corps Members were dislodged to camps in Kwara, Ekiti, Ondo, and Osun states, bringing the total number of deployed Corps Members to Lagos State to 7,887.
This development underscores the commitment of the NYSC to national integration and discipline as the 2025 service year progresses.
