The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, represented by Mrs. Khadija Liman, Director of Education Management & Program Coordinator for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring accessible, high-quality education across Nigeria.
Speaking at the 2025 Annual National Summit for Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), International Development Partners (IDPs), Community-Based Organisations (CBOs), and Faith-Based Organisations (FBOs) involved in the education sector, he described education as a powerful driver of societal and economic transformation.
In his address, Dr. Alausa emphasized the need to bridge the gap between policy and practice to implement meaningful educational reforms. While policies provide a strategic framework for change, he noted that their successful execution relies on the active involvement of NGOs, development partners, and grassroots organizations.
He urged these groups to align their efforts with the government’s education priorities, including curriculum modernization, digital learning initiatives, and teacher training programs, to maximize their impact.
The minister also underscored the importance of inclusivity, calling for targeted interventions to support marginalized communities, out-of-school children, and students with disabilities.
Recognizing the vital role NGOs play in addressing these challenges, he encouraged them to adopt innovative approaches to overcome systemic barriers. Additionally, he stressed the need for transparency and accountability in NGO-led projects to ensure long-term sustainability
