An education consultant has commended two recent initiatives of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, describing them as “a welcome development” in expanding access to quality learning for young Nigerians.
Olumuyiwa Aladeyelu, Education Consultant and Lead Tutor at CIMET Learning Hub, highlighted the declaration of free education in Federal Technical Colleges alongside the launch of the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as policies with the potential to transform educational opportunities.
Writing on his Facebook page, Aladeyelu explained that he has been actively sensitising parents to the student loan scheme, noting that it offers a crucial financial lifeline for many students. He, however, stressed the need for caution:
> “It is a loan—not a gift—and must be approached with responsibility.”
Aladeyelu further emphasised the importance of the free-tuition policy in Federal Technical Colleges, which he described as an underappreciated pathway to skills acquisition. According to him, these institutions provide essential hands-on training, and he cited a parent who, after his advice, had already resolved to enrol her son in the next academic session.
While acknowledging his personal reservations about other aspects of the current administration, the consultant noted that it is important to “recognise progress where it is made,” and expressed hope that the president would succeed in realising his educational vision.
Aladeyelu, through CIMET Learning Hub, continues to lead academic support and mentorship initiatives, advocating for improved access to education as a catalyst for national development.
