The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, has emphasized the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the Nigerian education sector, urging teachers to embrace emerging technologies to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
Dr. Alausa, represented by the Registrar of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Dr. Ronke Soyombo, delivered his keynote address at the ongoing “Let There Be Teachers” Conference 2025, the world’s largest gathering of teachers, holding at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos. The event drew over 60,000 educators from across the globe.
According to the Minister, adopting AI in classrooms is not only timely but also a strategic investment that can revolutionize the education system. He noted that with proper integration, AI tools could improve lesson delivery, personalize learning, and support teachers in addressing individual student needs.
“Artificial intelligence is not here to replace teachers but to empower them. It offers new possibilities to make learning more inclusive, innovative, and effective,” Dr. Alausa stated.
The Minister also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to advancing education in Nigeria, describing his leadership as visionary and impactful.
The historic conference, themed “Let There Be Teachers,” is powered by 1 Million Teachers in partnership with education strategist Oluwaseyi Anifowose. It is supported by the Lagos State Government, with ErudioHub as the technical/strategy partner, Channels Television as media partner, and Providence TV as sponsor.
The event has been described as a landmark moment in global education history, showcasing Nigeria’s central role in shaping the future of teaching.
