The Federal Ministry of Education has reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and value-for-money governance with the successful convening of the 7th Meeting of the Ministerial Tenders Board (MTB) for 2025.
The meeting, which was held to deliberate on memoranda submitted by institutions under the Ministry’s supervision, was chaired by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Mr. Abel Eniitan.
In his opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary welcomed members of the Board and reiterated the core principles guiding the work of the MTB—value for money and fitness for purpose. He stressed that these principles are critical to ensuring the prudent utilization of public funds and the delivery of meaningful services to Nigerians. According to him, the Board’s deliberations were aimed at making well-informed decisions that would enhance effective project execution and strengthen public confidence in government processes.
Providing an update on earlier proceedings, the Director of Procurement, Mrs. Etokhana Cecilia, informed members that approvals granted at the 6th MTB Meeting held on 19 December 2025—covering several memoranda submitted by tertiary institutions—had received ministerial concurrence. She confirmed that the approved projects were now ready for implementation in strict compliance with established due-process requirements.
During the meeting, members reviewed new submissions and emphasized the need for strict adherence to procurement regulations and the timely fulfilment of approval conditions by beneficiary institutions. They noted that effective implementation remains essential to achieving the objectives of approved projects and safeguarding public trust.
The meeting concluded with the consideration of additional requests, with assurances that all decisions taken were guided by due diligence, national interest, and the overarching goal of improving service delivery across Nigeria’s education sector.
