The Federal Government has pledged institutional support for the 2026 edition of the Let There Be Teachers Conference following a strategic visit by the initiative’s convener, Mr Oluwaseyi Anifowose, to the Federal Ministry of Education.
Mr Anifowose, who led a delegation on Friday, 20 February 2026, formally presented the Guinness World Record plaque secured by the movement in 2025 to the Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, and the Minister of State for Education. The presentation, held at the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja, underscored the initiative’s commitment to restoring pride, professionalism and national relevance to the teaching profession.
During the meeting, the delegation unveiled plans for the 2026 Let There Be Teachers Conference, which aims to mobilise 200,000 educators across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory toward measurable and systemic education reform.
The minister commended the initiative, describing it as a bold and timely intervention aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He reiterated that no education system can rise above the quality of its teachers and pledged the ministry’s partnership and institutional backing for the 2026 conference.
As part of broader sector reforms, the ministry highlighted the launch of a zero-rated digital platform for continuous professional development for teachers. It also announced that from 2026, the Federal Government will assume responsibility for licence fees payable to the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria for public school teachers, a move stakeholders say will ease financial pressure on educators and strengthen regulatory compliance.
Organisers said that, building on the global visibility achieved in 2025, the 2026 conference would move beyond symbolic milestones to measurable outcomes, focusing on policy alignment, teacher empowerment and nationwide impact.
The Let There Be Teachers Conference 2026 is expected to bring together government officials, educators, development partners and private sector actors in a coordinated effort to strengthen Nigeria’s education system through sustained investment in teachers.
