The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has announced the commencement of applications for admission into its postgraduate programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session.
According to a statement issued by the University’s School of Postgraduate Studies, applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates seeking admission into Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), Master’s, M.Phil., M.Phil./Ph.D., and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programmes across various disciplines.
Prospective applicants are advised to visit the University’s postgraduate portal for detailed information on available programmes, admission requirements, duration of study, application procedures, and other relevant guidelines.
The university stated that application forms will be available online for completion from Monday, June 22, 2026.
FUTA also issued important guidelines for applicants, warning that errors made during the application process could lead to the loss of admission opportunities for the academic session.
The institution noted that candidates who mistakenly select the wrong programme category, such as applying for a Master’s programme instead of a Postgraduate Diploma or Ph.D., may have their applications adversely affected.
It further cautioned applicants against mixing up their usernames and passwords, stressing that such mistakes would attract additional charges for correction.
The School of Postgraduate Studies also clarified that unsuccessful applications cannot be transferred from one programme to another and that statements of results older than four years will not be accepted for admission purposes. Candidates in such situations are required to obtain the relevant certificates from the appropriate examination bodies.
In a significant update, the university disclosed that applicants are no longer required to present Ordinary Level (‘O’ Level) results for postgraduate admissions.
The institution also reminded candidates that fees paid for application forms and acceptance of admission are non-refundable.
Interested candidates are encouraged to visit the postgraduate portal on the university’s website for comprehensive details and timely completion of their applications.
The announcement was signed by the Registrar of the University, Mr. C. O. Adeleye. This version is written in a standard newspaper format and ready for publication on an education news platform.
