— FME reaffirms commitment to accountability and efficiency
Abuja, October 31, 2025 — The Federal Ministry of Education has taken a major step toward digital governance with the launch of its Electronic Content Management (ECM) System, a landmark initiative aimed at improving service delivery, accountability, and efficiency across the education sector.
The Honourable Minister of Education, Chief (Dr.) Maruf Olatunji Alausa, FAMedS, CON, formally launched the system at a ceremony attended by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, OON, mni, the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan, and other top officials of the Ministry.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Alausa described the ECM as a “bold step toward revolutionizing the Ministry’s operations through technology-driven transparency and efficiency.” He explained that the system would eliminate duplication, reduce human error, and ensure secure and speedy management of official records.
The Minister directed the Ministry’s ICT Department to lead the implementation, emphasizing the importance of sustainability through a solar-powered backup to guarantee uninterrupted operations. He noted that the digital reform aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for transparent and technology-driven governance.
In her remarks, Mrs. Walson-Jack commended the Ministry for setting the pace in public service innovation, describing the ECM initiative as “a model for other Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs)” ahead of the December 31, 2025, digitalization deadline. She noted that the project reflects the objectives of Pillar 5 of the Federal Civil Service Strategic Plan (2021–2025), which focuses on technology and innovation.
Also speaking, Permanent Secretary Mr. Abel Enitan hailed the achievement as evidence of the Ministry’s readiness for full digital integration. “We are two months ahead of the national schedule,” he said.
The event featured a symbolic “Go-Live” ceremony, where the system was officially activated by Dr. Sam Nwosu, the project consultant.
The launch underscores the Federal Ministry of Education’s commitment to modernization, transparency, and improved service delivery across Nigeria’s education system.
