The university’s Registrar, Mufutau Ibrahim, disclosed the development in a statement on Tuesday, stating that the suspensions followed allegations that students were compelled to pay an unapproved levy.

The affected officials are the Director of the Directorate of Educational Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Olanrewaju Ogunjobi; the Deputy Dean of Student Affairs and Support Services, Dr. Banji Rildwan Olaleye; and the SUG President, James Iyanuoluwa Adio.

According to the registrar, a petition alleged that 100-level students were required to pay N1,000 each for practical sessions organized by the directorate without proper authorization.

To investigate the claims, the university constituted a preliminary fact-finding committee, which invited all individuals named in the petition to respond to the allegations.

The committee reportedly found that Ogunjobi authorized and collected the levy without obtaining approval from the university management, Senate, or following existing financial procedures requiring payments to be processed through the bursary.

The report also implicated Olaleye, alleging that he played a role in the collection process despite occupying a key position within the student affairs structure.

Similarly, the SUG President was accused of being indirectly involved in the handling of the funds. The university alleged that Adio participated in the sharing of an initial amount and later requested a refund, leading to the transfer of N700,000 into his personal bank account.

Reacting to the findings, the university management reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and the protection of students from exploitation.

“The university will not tolerate extortion, abuse of office, financial misconduct, or any form of corruption,” the statement said.

FUOYE added that the suspension of the officials is a temporary measure aimed at preserving the integrity of the investigation and ensuring a fair process as inquiries continue.

The institution stressed that all financial transactions involving students must comply with approved university procedures and receive the necessary authorizations.
