Lead City University, Ibadan, has reinforced its commitment to research-driven scholarship by honouring Professor Godwin Emmanuel Oyedokun with its 2025 Scholar of the Year Award, citing his outstanding research output, mentorship record, and contribution to academic development.
The recognition places Professor Oyedokun at the forefront of the University’s academic community, acknowledging his sustained impact on teaching, postgraduate supervision, and knowledge production within the Faculty of Humanities and Management Sciences.
A Professor of Accounting and Financial Development, Oyedokun has distinguished himself through an interdisciplinary approach that bridges accounting, finance, law, and professional practice. His work, according to the University, exemplifies the kind of scholarship that advances both academic inquiry and real-world problem-solving.
With more than 250 scholarly publications and over 1,100 research citations, Professor Oyedokun is regarded as one of the most productive researchers at the institution. His publications span accounting practice, forensic accounting, taxation, public finance, and financial policy, contributing to debates within academia and professional circles.
Beyond publications, the award also recognises his role in human capital development. Over the years, he has supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate research projects, including dozens of master’s dissertations and doctoral theses, both within Nigeria and internationally. His mentorship has helped shape a new generation of academics and industry professionals.
