The Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (MoHERST) announces the commencement of a two-week capacity building programme for the Registrars of The Gambia’s four public universities: the University of The Gambia, the University of Applied Sciences, Engineering and Technology, the University of Education, The Gambia, and the Civil Service University.
The training, taking place from January 19 to 31, 2026, in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, is being conducted under the directives and coordination of the Honourable Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science, and Technology, in partnership with the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC).
This programme is structured in two phases:
Phase One is hosted by Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, from January 19 to 23, 2026. Phase Two continues at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) from 26 to 30 January 2026.
This strategic initiative is designed to strengthen university administration and promote best practices in higher education management. It forms an integral part of the broader reforms being advanced within The Gambia’s Tertiary and Higher Education Transformation Agenda.
