The National Association of Nigerian Students (South West Zone D) has rejected the alleged imposition of a ₦10,000 endowment fee on graduates of Osun State Polytechnic, describing it as exploitative and unjustifiable.
In a press statement issued by the Office of the Assistant Secretary General, the student body said the fee—reportedly required before graduates can collect their certificates—places undue financial burden on individuals who have already fulfilled their academic and statutory obligations.
The statement, signed by Abubakar Musefiu, noted that the association received multiple complaints from affected students and recent graduates regarding the requirement, which is also linked to the institution’s convocation process.
NANS called on the management of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree to immediately suspend the enforcement of the fee, urging authorities to prioritise fairness and students’ welfare.
The association further advised graduates not to comply with the payment directive pending further developments, and encouraged those encountering challenges in obtaining their certificates to report such cases.
Reaffirming its commitment to protecting students’ rights, NANS warned that it would not hesitate to take decisive action if the issue is not promptly addressed.
