The wife of the Chief of the Naval Staff and President of the Navy Officers’ Wives Association (NOWA), Mrs Aisha Abbas, has commissioned four newly constructed classroom blocks and a remodelled music laboratory at NOWA Secondary School, Navy Town, Ojo, Lagos.
Mrs Abbas said the project reflects a renewed commitment to strengthening academic standards within Nigeria’s naval community. She described the development as a strategic investment in the future of naval children, noting that education remains a stabilising force for families who frequently relocate due to service demands.
According to her, the newly completed facilities are designed to promote creativity, critical thinking and academic excellence, ensuring that students remain competitive wherever they find themselves.
She added that the initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in the areas of education and family welfare.
Mrs Abbas commended the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, principal officers at Naval Headquarters, members of NOWA and the Parent-Teacher Association for their support toward the successful completion of the project.
Earlier, the Commandant of NOWA Secondary School, Commander Baba Magwi Inusa, described the facilities as more than infrastructural additions, stating that they represent a deliberate effort to create a more conducive learning environment for students.
The event was attended by NOWA national executives, senior naval officers, officers’ wives, members of the education committee, the Parent-Teacher Association, as well as staff and students of the school.
