As part of efforts to expand the National Education Loan Fund’s (NELFUND) footprint across the country, the Managing Director/Chief Executive, Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, on Wednesday led a high-level delegation to Abeokuta on a strategic courtesy visit to the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON.
Mr. Sawyerr was accompanied by the Director of Strategic Communications, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi; Senior Manager, Strategic Communications, Mr. Folayemi Ogunniya; and the PA to the MD/CE, Mr. Yomi Gbadamosi.
During the meeting, Governor Abiodun highlighted Ogun State’s unique position as host to the highest concentration of tertiary institutions in Nigeria, describing the state as a critical partner in efforts to broaden access to education financing.
The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between NELFUND and the state government, with emphasis on:
Increasing student awareness and uptake of the NELFUND scheme across Ogun’s tertiary institutions.
Implementing targeted communication and sensitization programmes to tap into the state’s robust academic ecosystem.
Deepening institutional collaboration to ensure sustainable access to education loans for eligible students.
Aligning NELFUND’s efforts with the governor’s commitment to transformative and inclusive education initiatives.
The visit, according to NELFUND, underscores its commitment to proactive stakeholder engagement and strong government partnerships aimed at scaling education financing nationwide.
Photographs from the engagement were made available by the Strategic Communications Directorate.
