The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has disbursed a total of ₦9,035,800 to support students of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Gusau for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The loan disbursement, which was credited on February 13, 2026, is expected to benefit 154 students of the institution, covering their tuition and statutory charges.
According to details of the disbursement announcement, the intervention is aimed at ensuring that beneficiaries continue their studies without financial interruption, particularly at a time when many students face economic challenges.
The funding forms part of the federal government’s student loan initiative implemented through NELFUND to expand access to higher education and reduce the financial burden on students across Nigerian tertiary institutions.
With the latest payment to the college located in Gusau, education stakeholders say the scheme is gradually reaching more institutions and students nationwide.
Observers note that continued disbursement to schools like the Federal College of Education (Technical), Gusau could help improve student retention and completion rates, especially among those from low-income backgrounds.
The NELFUND student loan programme was introduced to provide financial assistance for tuition and related academic expenses, allowing eligible Nigerian students to pursue higher education with repayment structured after graduation.
