The National Universities Commission has endorsed the newly established Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences, Iyin Ekiti to teach 34 academic programmes across its four faculties.
This accreditation was disclosed by the FUTES Registrar, Mr Oluwole Dada on Thursday at Iyin Ekiti, saying that the accreditation launched the official commencement of academic session 2025/2026.
He further revealed that it followed a tight verification exercise conducted by four NUC teams that checked the university’s laboratories, classrooms, lecture halls, offices, hostels, library, clinic, toilets, staff buses, teaching equipment, and other vital parts of the institution’s structure.
Oluwole said, “The aim of the exercise was to ensure the institution’s readiness and its capability to deliver high quality training in science, engineering and technology, computing and information technology and environmental sciences”.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Gbenga Aribisala, expressed his happiness, describing the successful verification as “a feat that confirms the university’s preparedness to provide 21st-century education”.
Aribisala urged aspirants to change their preferred institution to FUTES on the JAMB portal, highlighting that admission would strictly be based on merit.
“Academic excellence is our mantra and that is the standard we want to set from the outset. Students who did well in JAMB, WAEC, NECO or NABTEB will be given admission merit based without favouritism,” he said.
The VC cautioned parents and guardians against patronising admission mercenaries, saying, “We want to make it clear to members of the public that the university has no agent for admissions or payments of any kind. Our website is open to everyone to access accurate information.”
On accurate information, he urged aspirants to depend only on the institution’s official website, www.futes.edu.ng, or to contact the office of the Registrar for guidance.
According to the registrar, programmes for the four faculties accredited by the NUC are:
