The Professor Peter Olufemi Adeniyi Foundation (PPOAF) , founded by a former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA Professor Emeritus Peter Adeniyi , has successfully executed its maiden projects in Ikole-Ekiti, Ekiti State, combining an educational infrastructure intervention with a capacity-building programme for grassroots leaders.
A major highlight of the event on November 27, 2025, was the commissioning of the upgraded Egbeoba High School Library. The ceremony was performed on behalf of the Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency Hon. Biodun Oyebanji (BAO), by Dr. Adeyinka Adebayo, Director of Planning, Research and Statistics at the Ekiti State Ministry of Education. The upgraded facility is expected to significantly improve access to learning resources and promote a stronger reading culture among students.
In his address the Governor speaking through his representative said “The commissioning of this upgraded Egbeoba High School Library is more than the unveiling of a building. It is the opening of doors to knowledge, imagination, and opportunity for our young people. Education remains the strongest foundation for the future we are building, and every investment in learning is an investment in the destiny of our state”.
Hon. Oyebanji commended the Professor Peter Olufemi Adeniyi Foundation for what he described as a remarkable intervention. He said “By strengthening educational infrastructure and organizing a capacity-building workshop for our community leaders and organisations, the Foundation has demonstrated that true development is holistic. It is not only about structures, but about empowering people with leadership skills, vision, and the ability to mobilize resources for sustainable progress”.
Speaking at the event, the founder of PPOAF, Professor Peter Adeniyi, described the project as a personal commitment to giving back to the community and investing in future generations. “Education transformed my life, and I believe it remains the most powerful tool for community progress. This library is more than a building. it is a gateway to knowledge, opportunity, and hope for young people in Ikole-Ekiti. Our foundation is committed to creating environments where children can dream, learn, and compete confidently with their peers anywhere in the world.”
He added that the foundation’s mission extends beyond infrastructure to empowering communities to drive their own development. “Sustainable development begins at the grassroots. When community leaders are equipped with the right skills and knowledge, they become catalysts for positive change. Today’s workshop is about strengthening that capacity and building partnerships that will outlive us,” he said.
Community leaders at the event commended the foundation for the timely and impactful intervention stating that the project will benefit not just the students of Egbeoba High School but the entire community. A representative of the Community Development Associations in Ikole-Ekiti noted that the upgraded library would serve as a long-term investment in the intellectual growth of local youth and that access to books and modern learning facilities gives children confidence and opportunity.
Following the commissioning, the programme continued with a Capacity Building Workshop designed for Community-Based Organisations (CBOs), Community Development Associations (CDAs), and traditional community leaders across Ikole-Ekiti. The workshop featured lectures on leadership development and resource mobilisation, aimed at equipping participants with practical skills to drive sustainable initiatives within their communities.
Participants engaged in interactive question-and-answer sessions, sharing local experiences and exploring strategies for collaboration and grassroots development. The training concluded with certificate presentations in recognition of attendees’ participation and commitment to community service.
Guests were later taken on a guided tour of the newly upgraded library facility, where they observed the modern learning resources now available to students.
Organisers said the full-day programme reflects PPOAF’s broader vision of integrating education, leadership training, and community empowerment. The foundation signaled plans to expand similar initiatives in the future, reinforcing partnerships with government agencies and local stakeholders to promote sustainable development in Ekiti State and beyond.
