Renowned Nigerian educator Kayode Adewale, a Top 50 Finalist for the Global Teacher Prize 2025, has reaffirmed his commitment to revolutionizing education in Nigeria despite not making it to the final round of the prestigious competition.
In a heartfelt message to colleagues, friends, and supporters, Adewale expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support he has received throughout the journey, stating that the recognition alone has fueled his passion for transformative education.
“Your unwavering support, love, and encouragement have been my greatest reward throughout this journey. The recognition and backing I’ve received from all of you across Nigeria have reignited my passion and strengthened my resolve to keep pushing forward,” he wrote.
Adewale’s vision for education reform centers on Technology-Assisted Instructional Management, an innovative tool that allows students to learn in Nigerian indigenous languages. While missing out on potential funding from the Global Teacher Prize is a setback, he remains undeterred.
Thanks to a ₦5,000,000 sponsorship from Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun, MFR, Adewale announced that his Transformation1090 Project—an initiative aimed at equipping educators with tools and training to enhance classroom learning—will proceed as planned. The next phase of the training is set to commence in February 2025.
“Culturally relevant pedagogy—teaching students using their indigenous or primary language—has the power to transform education in Nigeria.
With your continued support, I am confident that together, we can bring this much-needed transformation to our classrooms,” he stated, calling on corporate bodies and individuals to collaborate on the initiative.
Adewale also extended his appreciation to the Varkey Foundation and UNESCO for providing a global platform to celebrate classroom teachers. He congratulated the Top 10 Finalists and encouraged the eventual winner to collaborate with all Top 50 Finalists to drive impactful educational change worldwide.
“Together, we have proven that classroom teachers are agents of change. I am proud to stand as a Global Teacher Prize Ambassador and remain committed to the transformation of education in Nigeria,” he affirmed.
