The National Teachers’ Institute (NTI), Kaduna, has released a total of 13,710 pending certificates for its Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) and Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programmes.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Monday in Kaduna by the Institute’s Head of Public Relations and Protocol Unit, Yusha’u Ahmed.
According to the statement, affected graduates are advised to visit NTI offices in their respective states with the required documents and follow due procedures for the collection of their certificates.
Mr Ahmed also disclosed that certificates for the Institute’s Bachelor Degree Programmes (BDPs) would be available for collection from next week.
A breakdown provided by the Academic Records Division of the Registry Department shows that 6,954 PGDE certificates, covering the 2013 to 2016 academic sessions, have been released under NTI’s affiliation with the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).
In addition, the Institute released 445 PGDE certificates in affiliation with Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, and 119 PGDE certificates affiliated with the University of Ilorin.
The statement further revealed that 6,192 NCE certificates for the 2023 academic year have also been issued.
The Director and Chief Executive of NTI, Professor Sadiya Sani-Daura, reaffirmed the Institute’s commitment to resolving the long-standing issue of delayed certificates.
According to Mr Ahmed, the delays were caused by administrative challenges that have now been addressed, assuring stakeholders that measures have been put in place to prevent future occurrences.
He added that NTI remains committed to fulfilling its mandate as a teacher education institution, particularly through distance learning and the application of modern educational technologies in line with global best practices.
The Institute also expressed appreciation to students and other stakeholders for their patience and continued support.
