The Executive Chairman of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Evang. Ifede Joshua Olalekan, undertook a monitoring visit to assess the ongoing 2024/2025 Third Term Unified Examinations in various public primary schools across the state.
In his inaugural school monitoring assignment, at St. Mary Nursery and Primary School, Osiele, Odeda Local Government Area, he conducted an evaluation of learners’ knowledge and literacy levels. The Chairman stressed the significance of reading ability, directing teachers to prioritize the improvement of learners’ reading skills to ensure they can accurately comprehend and respond to examination questions.
At Obantoko Local Government Primary Schools I and II, Odeda, the SUBEB Chairman advised school administrators on the importance of maintaining a professional dress code to command respect. He also visited Moshood Abiola Nursery and Primary School I&II, Adatan, where he reiterated the necessity of focusing on learners’ literacy levels, emphasizing its critical role in laying a strong foundation for future academic success. Furthermore, he instructed donors to notify and obtain approval from the Board prior to initiating construction projects, ensuring that such projects are sited appropriately and meet safety standards.
While responding to pressmen, Evang. Ifede confirmed that all schools visited were adequately staffed, supplied with examination materials and that the state government had made substantial investments in the Unified Examinations. He underscored the need for vigilant monitoring to ensure total compliance.
Meanwhile, at Baptist Day Primary School Ijeun-Lukosi, Obafemi Owode Local Government, the SUBEB Chairman reiterated the importance of teachers focusing on lower classes to ensure that learners develop reading and writing skills from an early stage.
The Headteacher of Moshood Abiola Nursery and Primary School II, Mrs. Modupe Olaniyan, expressed appreciation to the state government for providing adequate infrastructure and examination materials. Similarly, the Headteachers of Obantoko Local Government Nursery and Primary School I and II, Mrs. Oladoyinbo Deborah Oluranti and Mr. Idowu Dauda Ishola, reported that examination materials were adequately supplied.
