Speaking during Teachers’ Day celebrations in Kirehe District, the Minister of State for Education, Irere Claudette, highlighted key reforms being implemented to strengthen teaching and learning outcomes across Rwanda.
She noted that the introduction of Education Imihigo at both district and school levels has helped sharpen accountability and align education goals with national priorities, ensuring measurable progress within the sector.
The Minister further emphasized the importance of teacher and school leader evaluations as tools for improving classroom practice and school management. She also underscored ongoing investments in English proficiency training for teachers, describing language competence as a critical enabler of effective instruction and learner success in a globalized education environment.

Calling for shared ownership among government, school leaders, teachers, and communities, Minister Irere urged all stakeholders to work collaboratively to deliver stronger results.
She commended teachers for the significant strides already made despite challenges, celebrating their dedication and reaffirming the Ministry of Education’s commitment to supporting them as central drivers of Rwanda’s education transformation.
